Valley of the Mist Quilters Guild is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization is now in its 28th year.  As a social, educational and charitable institution, we are dedicated to furthering the knowledge and skills of our members as well as to the making of quilts and other sewn items for those in need.  Membership is open to all, regardless of skill level.  Our meetings are designed to promote the open exchange of ideas and the sharing of individual members’ quilting knowledge.

Toward those ends, we offer nationally known (sometimes internationally known) speakers during the year, providing members and guests with ideas and inspiration both traditional and modern.  In other months, we offer member instruction in what we call Quilt University, as well as a trunk show presentation by two or three of our members.  We host a Philanthropy Sew-In in August, celebrate the guild’s birthday in September and the holidays in December with potluck dinners.

Valley of the Mist has a very active philanthropy program.  We are very proud that in 2017 the committee and guild completed and donated record numbers of beautiful quilts, pillowcases, and Christmas stockings to various groups in need.  We hope to meet or exceed that level of production in 2018.

We put on an annual outdoor quilt show on the first Saturday of October, in Old Town Temecula.  The quilt show has grown considerably since its inception in 1999.  The show features a huge number of colorful quilts hanging from the eaves and porch railings of businesses in Old Town Temecula, drawing numbers estimated at 6,000 or more.  The quilt show also features vendors up at the Civic Center’s Conference Room, a silent auction of small quilts, totes, aprons and table runners, and an exciting live auction at 1 pm up at the Temecula Community Theatre Courtyard.  A portion of the proceeds of these auctions is donated to two or three local charities.

Our guild meetings are held the second Tuesday of every month at 6:45 pm, with social time beginning at 6:15 pm.  We hope you will join us this year—we’d love to have you!
