< Workshops Workshop: 02-Secret Garden

  • Skills taught/learned: Easy Machine Applique, Bias Tape making, Freezer Paper Applique, Designing and layout using Photoshop and/or EQ8, Design
  • Blocks taught: Dresden Plates, Circles

Create your own special garden by layering the classic Dresden Plate to make beautiful, layered flowers. Learn how new technology can help you experiment with different colors of fabrics as well as placement and designs. Finish your beautiful quilt using my easy machine appliqué technique.

Best as a multi-day class, or a two-part scheduled several weeks apart.  Plan on making a wall hanging or a table runner, or simply learn the techniques and make your own big, beautiful quilt.

Make your background before coming to class, it can be a whole cloth, take several of your favorite fat quarters sewn together for your quilt top, better yet – a quilt top you never finished because it wasn’t special enough (we can turn that into a beautiful garden).  Bring that to class and get ready to grow your own individual garden!

Part one – learn how to make and assemble flowers and discuss possible backgrounds.

Part two – work on the “design” and decide how best to showcase your garden.
